We are required to comply with the regulations set forth by Waste Management and therefore, are requesting your cooperation. Listed below is the prohibited and restricted waste.

Prohibited Waste

  • Tires
  • Lead-acid batteries
  • Containers with any liquids or residues
  • Non-containerized liquids
  • Gas cylinders
  • Vehicles
  • Flammable liquids/solids
  • Green waste
  • Solvents and petroleum-based materials
  • Explosives, corrosives, oxidizers
  • Radioactive materials
  • Poisons, pesticides, herbicides
  • Unsterilized biological waste
  • Refrigerators and other appliances
  • Scrap metal
  • Fluorescent lamps
  • Cardboard
  • Monitors

Restricted Waste

Accepted at the Kekaha Landfill when hauled separately by themselves and accompanied by a Waste Management manifest and proper certification.
  • Asbestos-containing materials
  • Petroleum contaminated soil
  • Industrial process waste
  • Sterilized biological waste
  • Sludge

Additional Information

Dirt/Concrete allowed, fill limit is ½ full. (Maximum bin size is 20 yd³)
Debris in the bin cannot be higher than the top of the roll-off rail.
If any bin is overfilled, the customer is responsible for off-loading or leveling the debris in the bin to meet the requirements for hauling.
Maximum bin weight is 10 tons, an extra pick up charge will be assessed.
Should prohibited/restricted material be visually spotted in your container, we will not service your container, we will notify you of the situation. In the event that we will need to return to services your container, it will be charged as an extra pick-up. If any prohibited or restricted items are found at the landfill during disposal, a minimum charge of $100 is assessed plus the disposal cost per item. If this causes a delay, there will be an additional charge of $4 per minute and the cost to return the item back to service location.
